Come enjoy the newest and largest park in Lacey!
Now open to the public with so much room to explore. With the first 139 acres developed, you can walk 3 miles of trails, enjoy the playground, and have lunch at the picnic shelter!

Greg Cuoio Park offers natural beauty and recreational opportunities while preserving critical wetlands, creeks, and forested areas. It is part of the 537-acre Greg Cuoio Park & Greenways, which also includes Pleasant Glade Park and Palm Creek Headwaters.
The 139 acres newly open to the public include-
- Trails through the forest and connections to the playground, picnic shelter, and parking lot
- A nature-themed playground with synthetic turf surfacing and a companion swing
- A large shelter with 12 picnic tables, ideal for families and small groups
- 2 acres of open grass area
- Signage and maps on site
- Parking with 75 spots
- Portable toilets
In addition, an 18-hole disc golf course is planned as a long-term development project through a partnership with the South Puget Sound Disc Golf Association. The course is available to view and explore. Due to significant brush and vegetation throughout the course, conditions can be challenging. We recommend viewing the course before playing and bringing a spotter to help locate discs. We invite you to explore the course and share your feedback of the proposed tee pad and basket locations by emailing spsdga@gmail.com. Community input will help shape the final design.
The disc golf course is open for play as the course continues to take shape!
The South Puget Sound Disc Golf Association will be hosting work parties over the coming months to improve fairways, install temporary tee pads, and help determine the permanent locations for tees and baskets. Additional course improvements will continue throughout this development phase.
We encourage you to come out, view and explore the course, and share your thoughts and suggestions as we work toward the final design. Who is Greg Cuoio?
The park is named after former City of Lacey City Manager Greg Cuoio, in recognition of his 24 years of public service and contributions to the community. Greg was instrumental in securing the purchase of these properties, which is now the Lacey’s largest park.
How did we decide what to build at the park?
In 2022, the City finalized the Greg Cuoio Park & Greenways Master Plan, showcasing the community’s long-term vision for the park, including preferred activities to have onsite.
As part of the planning process, we conducted extensive public outreach, including three open houses, three online surveys, meetings with neighbors, direct communication with over 20 stakeholders, and presentations to the Lacey Parks, Culture and Recreation Board, and the Lacey City Council.
The feedback we received was to provide open space preservation, water quality protection, and enhancement of the natural environment, balancing the natural environment with recreation opportunities to create a place for visitors and residents to experience and learn about the park.
Due to the size of the park and the City’s limited funding, completing all the items in the master plan will take time. Future construction of the remaining items listed in the master plan will happen in phases, as funding is secured.
What are the future plans for the park?
We have exciting things in store for Greg Cuoio Park, should future funding be identified. The Greg Cuoio Park and Greenways Master plan showcases the long-term vision for the park, such as
- Restrooms and utilities
- Vehicle access improvements along Carpenter Road
- Landscaping
- More trails and a playground zipline
- A potential dog park
Does the park have a restroom?
Portable toilets are onsite near the playground. Significant future funding is needed to install water and sewer infrastructure necessary for restrooms. Water and sewer mains will need to be extended north to the park from Britton Parkway. In addition, a wastewater lift station would need to be constructed to convey waste south on Carpenter Road and up the hill to Britton Parkway. Though Phase 1A did not include water utilities, water and wastewater lines were built within the park and stubbed out to Carpenter Road to connect to a future main once available.
Can I rent the park? The picnic shelter?
Currently opportunities to rent the park are limited given parking lot and utility limitations. While it’s not likely we can accommodate your large group at Greg Cuoio Park, please contact us if you have rental questions so we can help you find the best fit for your event!
Like many of our parks, the large picnic shelter at Greg Cuoio Park is available for free on a first-come, first-served basis. Multiple groups can share this 2,200 square foot space simultaneously.
