Picnic Shelters and Park Rentals

Covered picnic shelters with barbecue grills are available for rent to individuals, families and non-profit groups at Woodland Creek Community Park, Rainier Vista Community Park, the Lacey Depot and the Regional Athletic Complex (RAC). All other picnic shelters are available on a first come, first served basis.

  • Shelters may be reserved for half-day and full-day periods between April 1 through October 31. 
    • For most sites, reservations for the current year may be submitted beginning the first business day in February.
    • For the Lacey Depot, reservations for the current year may be submitted beginning the first business day in April.
  • Picnic shelters can be rented for groups of 75 people or less. For larger groups, more than one shelter must be rented, if available.
  • For larger community activities and special events1, please fill out the application packet. Smaller events can be reserved online.

NOTE: Regional Athletic Complex (RAC) Parking Lot Expansion Project Underway

Effective December 4, 2023: The gravel lot in the northwest corner (Marvin Rd SE and Steilacoom Rd SE) of the RAC) is CLOSED to construct a new asphalt parking lot and additional site improvements. The lot will remain closed to the public until at least June 2024.

Picnic shelters at the RAC will be unavailable for use or rental until the project is complete.

  1. “Special event” means any fair, festival, concert, performance, show, parade, run/walk/bike, or other publicly attended entertainment or celebration which is to be held in whole or in part upon publicly owned property or public rights-of-way, or if held wholly upon private property, will nevertheless affect or impact the ordinary and normal use by the general public of public property or public rights-of-way within the vicinity of such event. ↩︎
