Financial Assistance Program

The Lacey Parks, Culture and Recreation Financial Assistance Program awards qualified households with funds to be used on any of our programs by any member of your household. Learn more and apply below!

How it Works

The purpose of this program is to offer access to City of Lacey recreation opportunities to those in the community who could not afford to participate otherwise.

Financial Assistance is awarded as an account credit to be used towards program registration. Reimbursements cannot be provided to existing registration payments. Receiving aid does not automatically register you in a program. If approved, you will need to register for the program and pay any remaining balance.

Applications may be submitted at anytime throughout the year. Funds are awarded to qualified households in the order the applications are received, as funds allow. You will be emailed the result of your application. Processing of applications may take up to 5 business days.

Based on recreation program costs, households may receive up to $200 combined for winter and spring, $100 for summer, and $100 for fall— limited to $400 per calendar year per household.

Unused funds will remain on the household’s account, available for use in other Lacey Parks, Culture, and Recreation programs but will expire at the end of the calendar year.

If you do not plan to use your remaining funds, please contact us so the funds may be awarded other other families in need.

Eligibility and Verification

To be eligible to receive funds, applicants must meet both our residency and income requirements by submitted approved documentation for each.

Residency
Applicants must live with the City of Lacey limits or within the North Thurston Public School District. Accepted forms of residency verification are a school district document, a utility bill, or government issued identification. In lieu of a permanent address, a referral letter may be submitted detailing residency circumstances. Referral letters may be submitted from the following: NTPS Homeless & Foster Care Representative, Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) Representative, Community Youth Services (CYS) Representative, or Non-profit or Shelter Representative.

Income
Applicants must have a household income threshold that meets the Department of Social & Health (DSHS) requirements for free and reduced lunch. Accepted forms of income verification are a copy of last year’s completed tax return, or a letter from North Thurston Public Schools verifying free and reduced lunch. In lieu of income verification documents, a detailed letter of explanation outlining the financial need will be accepted. Please address in the letter why one of the other options is not available as verification.
