Financial Assistance

The Lacey Parks, Culture and Recreation financial assistance program awards qualified participants with up to $200 per trimester to be used on any of our available programs for any member of your household.

How often may I apply and for how much?

Qualifying households may request financial assistance of up to $200 for recreation programs every trimester. Maximum possible awarded assistance is $400 per household per year (as funding allows).

Application periods open as follows:

  • Winter/Spring – December 1st
  • Summer – April 1st
  • Fall – September 1st

Do I need to be a Lacey resident to be eligible?

Verification of residency within the City of Lacey limits or within North Thurston Public School District must be submitted with the application. Accepted forms of verification are a school district document or identification or a utility bill. In lieu of a permanent address, a letter may be submitted detailing residency circumstances.

Do I need to prove my financial need?

Verification of income is required. Forms of verification can be a copy of last year’s tax return, a letter from North Thurston Public Schools verifying free and reduced lunch, or a benefits letter. In lieu of the above, a detailed letter of explanation outlining the financial need will be accepted. Please address in the letter why one of the other three options is not available as verification. Applications without these items will not be considered.

What if I don’t use all of the awarded financial assistance amount?

Every awarded household will receive up to a $200 credit to be used on the program/s indicated on the application for the indicated trimester. Any unused funds will remain on household account for future use, but will expire at the end of the calendar year. Refunds may not be requested for financial assistance funds. A household can apply for multiple trimesters if financial assistance funds are still available. The financial assistance program goal is to reach as many households as possible (limit $400 per household per year).
