Pan Wizards’ Steel Orchestra

The Pan Wizards Youth Steel Orchestra is a ensembled of 34 talented high school musicians who have been playing steelpan since the 5th or 6th grade. The group is the flagship ensemble of Steel Magic Northwest, a Seattle-based nonprofit founded by the band’s director and drummer, Garry Gibson, a well-known figure in the international steelpan community. The group’s repertoire and performances have universal, multi-generational appeal, and are family friendly. The group tours regionally each year extending their reach to points as far away as Montana, northern Vancouver Island, Central B.C, and Coastal Oregon. This performance is the last stop on their 2026 tour.

Mikey the Rad Scientist is a children’s musician and science educator who transforms concerts into hands-on adventures. Blending catchy original songs with playful storytelling, movement, and audience participation, he invites kids and families to explore topics like animals, ecosystems, weather, and the wonders of the natural world. 

A favorite at libraries, schools, and family festivals, Music Mike’s performances encourage curiosity, creativity, and joyful learning. With a warm stage presence and a “learn-through-laughter” style, he creates an inclusive experience where children don’t just watch the show — they become part of it.

A Lacey community favorite since 2008, Recess Monkey is the high energy trio of nationally acclaimed teachers with a pitch-perfect understanding of what gets kids and their families excited. 

Known for prolific, eclectic musical output and their contagiously exciting live shows, Recess Monkey strives to strike a balance between kid-centric ideas and musical authenticity. Lyrically, they weave jokes and puns together with universal childhood themes, speaking to both kids and their parents simultaneously with catchy, melodic songs. Seamlessly meshing their indie-rock roots with their keen awareness of childhood themes, the band continues to make waves coast to coast.

Eric Ode (pronounced Oh-dee) is a word-weaver – a national award-winning children’s singer/songwriter, a widely published author and poet, and a thoroughly engaging entertainer. His upbeat, high-participation programs are bubbling over with fun, interactive music and include stories, skits, poetry, props and puppets. 

A former elementary classroom and middle school English teacher with a Masters Degree in Educational Technology, Eric has been invited to share his music and poetry programs with schools, community festivals, and libraries throughout the United States, in Germany, Japan, and in Guam.

Lindsay Quella Kara is an indie musical artist based in the Pacific Northwest. Lindsay released her first co-written song on Spotify in 2020 and her second single in the fall of 2024. 

Now working in Portland studios in collaboration with other artists, Lindsay’s intuitive singer songwriter style blends Americana, mindful folk and roots with elements of pop and soul. A multi-media artist, Lindsay is dedicated to using the strength of her voice and embodied presence to create connection, deeper relationships and authentic expression. 

Deeply inspired by nature, and the influence of living in small towns- Lindsay’s personally written songs are influenced by her journey. 

American Legion Band

A volunteer concert band playing patriotic songs in a Boston Pops-inspired style, with Glenn Miller, movie soundtracks, and Americana to uplift the public, especially veterans and their families.

The oldest state-level American Legion Band in the USA is right here in Olympia – the Department of Washington American Legion Band. World War I veterans began the band in April 1924 at the American Legion Alfred William Leach Post No. 3 in Olympia. Their initial event was opening day of the yachting season with the Olympia Yacht Club in the spring of 1925. The band has played at this site for 100 years (missing only two years due to the pandemic). In 1956 they won the National American Legion Band Championship in Los Angeles. In 1987 it was designated the state band. 2025 marked its 100th anniversary. Each year the band, comprised of 40 volunteer members, presents free performances throughout the Puget Sound region as well as in Eastern Washington for the American Legion’s State Convention.
