Park Overview
Long Lake Park features one of the finest swimming beaches in Thurston County, as well as sand volleyball and picnic tables. The 285 feet of beach frontage stands in contrast to the heavily-wooded property that provide an evergreen entrance to the park site. The upland area has picnic facilities and a natural trail through the woods.  Dogs are not allowed on the beach or in the swim area.

No Lifeguards are on duty at Long Lake Park – Swim at Your Own Risk

In 1983, the land for Long Lake Park was acquired from Thurston County. For information about the nearby boat launch, please visit the Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Long Lake Property Project Info

The property adjacent to Long Lake Park, located at 2802 Boat Launch Street SE, is city-owned and was purchased in 2022. The existing house, dock, and garage are scheduled for demolition. During this work, park users may notice intermittent construction noise at Long Lake Park, with activity anticipated to begin in early summer 2026.

The long-term plan is to incorporate this property into Long Lake Park to expand public access, once funding for development is secured. Future improvements will focus on outdoor activities like walking trails, kayaking, and fishing, so the existing structures are not needed for these uses. The house has also experienced ongoing vandalism, which has made it more challenging to maintain over time.
