Park & Trail Rules

Located in the center of Lacey, Wonderwood Park combines recreational facilities within a natural woodland atmosphere. Take a walk on the natural trails or paved pathways that thread through the woods, picnic beneath the shelter or at one of the many tables provided. Athletic fields, including two softball/soccer fields, four pickleball/tennis courts, a basketball court, and a playground offer plenty of room to play.

Pickleball/tennis court info: The courts are US Open Blue with green deck and white lines for tennis.  Two of the courts have blue blended lines for pickleball and one court has green blended lines for U-10 tennis.

In 1971, the City of Lacey purchased approximately twenty acres for what would be the first park in the city with $14,500 of city funds, and a grant of $58,000.  Three years later an additional 20 acres was purchased and the first phase of Wonderwood Park was completed.

Sunset Entrance – Trail and Court Replacement Project

The court and adjacent asphalt trail (from the restroom to the playground) are being replaced due to cracking and lifting of the existing asphalt surface.  This project will include the following upgrades:

  • A wider, more accessible trail that follows a more direct route to the playground.
  • The concept plan shows the old path in red and new path & court in blue.
  • The new trail will be 5 ft. wide.
  • A new court surface with improved playability.

Construction Start (anticipated): August/September

Project Length (anticipated): up to 2 weeks

During construction the court, trail areas, and surrounding work area will be closed.
