This residence is located in a section of the City of Lacey that was not platted. A modest sized ranch, the residence reflects the rectangular plan with low-pitched roof, and wood façade typical of the style. The property maintains integrity of location, residential setting and feeling, and association with contemporaneous residential structures. The investigators only became aware of the newer addition when viewing aerial photographs of the subdivision. The age of the newer addition was not determined during the course of the current reconnaissance. Despite the newer addition to the rear of the building which is not visible from the street, this residence otherwise features intact design, workmanship, and materials and is therefore recommended as eligible for listing in the National Register under Criterion C at the local level. The preliminary historic property reconnaissance focused on only those buildings with a minimum of changes to their front elevations and so did not yield enough properties to constitute a historic district. However, it is not uncommon for post World War II houses dating from 1945 to 1959 to have historically undergone modifications to their original design thereby facilitating increased living space, such as by converting a garage to a bedroom. An expansion of the time frame under consideration for a local study and further investigations may be able to identify enough contributing elements within a particular plat to constitute a historic district within the current study area. This one-story residence with T-shaped floor plan was constructed in 1949 within a residential section of the City of Lacey. The original structure had an L-shaped floorplan according to the property card but a newer addition was subsequently constructed onto the rear elevation. The residence consists of a cross-gable roof house proper with attached garage exhibiting an original rollup door. The roof of the residence is clad in composition shingles and exhibits projecting eaves with vergeboard in the gable end as well as a centered louver. A single-stack, stretcher-bond brick chimney projects from the roof. The residence is clad in vertical flushboard with scalloped ends in the gable ends over shingle. The front elevation of the residence exhibits an original single-leaf door with storm door beneath a covered entryway formed by the projecting eaves. The door opens onto a poured concrete stoop. The front elevation exhibits one large, original window with wood surrounds and continuous lugsill. The seven-pane sash with mullions and muntins consists of a large central fixed pane flanked by three smaller, square vertically aligned panes. The residence rests upon a poured concrete foundation.
