appears to have been one of the earliest modern style houses in an area of Little Chamber’s Prairie which was primarily dairy, hay and poultry farms until intense suburban housing development began in the late 1930’s. . This house appears to be clearly associated with suburban expansion and exhibits typically modern, although modes, housing features. An example of typical depression-era domestic building style which includes “minimal traditional” features that reflect the traditional eclectic styles popularized earlier in the century but lack the decorative detailing and scale. Distinctive features include; prominent front gable, variegated siding, typical low roof pitch with close gable and rake, cutaway porch and characteristics modern corner window. 1999: Newer windows and siding.
