Statement Of Significance A rare and unique modern folk house which, like traditional folk housing, reflects the continued 20th c. need for basic economical shelter without particular concern for fashionable stylistic design or detailing. This house was constructed by the owner with salvaged materials, most noteworthy the corrugated aluminum and “quonset-hut” roof frames which were readily available in the post–WWII era. Surviving examples of quonset-hut type dwellings are extremely rare. Many conventional suburban residences were constructed in Lacey during this immediate post- WWII period. Physical Description A very uncommon “quonset-hut” style residence constructed with standard wood frame wall systems and salvaged quonset-type, half-cylindrical roof frame and covered by salvaged corrugated aluminum metal cladding. A simple rectangular plan with vaulted porch roof (corrugated aluminum) supported by pipe columns, simple double-hung window sash and salvaged older front door. Located among a neighborhood of conventional suburban houses.
