Statement Of Significance The building at 1320 College Street in Lacey was built in 1951. Research did not indicate that the building holds associative value to historically important events or people. The property has been modified through the replacement of the rear entry door and steps, all windows, and the addition of the concrete ADA wheelchair ramp. The building is located in what was primarily a residential area, and its general form indicates that it was likely originally a residence. It is unclear when the property was converted from residential to commercial use. The modifications and change in use have compromised the integrity of materials, workmanship, feeling, and association. The building is a common example of a ranch style building of the 1950s, is not known to be the work of a master architect, nor was it built using innovative construction techniques. The building offers no significant additional information to our understanding of historic residential or commercial areas of the 1950s in the City of Lacey. As such, we do not recommend this building eligible for listing in the NRHP. Physical Description The building, located on a .17 acre lot at 1320 College Street SE, is a single-story, wood-framed property. Construction features include a gable-on-hip roof with closed eaves, exterior lapped siding, aluminum sliding windows, and concrete foundation. A lean-to is located on the south side of the building. The rear entry has been altered. It appears a new door, stairs and a wheelchair ramp have been added for easier access. The metal railing on the concrete ramp extends to asphalt steps that lead to a single-entry wooden door with single pane glazing and decorative carving on the lock rail. The building currently functions as a medical office for Randall Chiropractic. As with the building to the north at 1308 College street, an asphalt lot was added in 1975, likely to create parking space at the rear of the property.
