Statement of significance: The triplex was built in 1957 according to Thurston County Assessor’s on-line records. On file modifications include a roof replacement in 2001 and a $39,000 remodel in 1984. The details of this remodel are unknown. At least seven of the windows have been replaced; two appear to be original. The building likely originally functioned as a single-family residence, evident due to the property’s overall form, and its location in a residential neighborhood. This building is not considered to be the work of a master architect. The building was not constructed using innovative construction techniques. Research did not indicate that the building is associated with any historically important events or people. This property adds little to our understanding of historic residential or commerical areas of the 1950s in the City of Lacey. As such, we recommend this building not eligible for listing in the NRHP. Physical description: According to the county assessor, the structure was built in 1957 and is a multiple family house. The 1-story building has a hip roof clad in asphalt composition shingles. The walls of the triplex form are clad principally in plywood. The unspecified style building sits on a poured concrete foundation. The building is a square-shaped triplex with a hipped roof with asphalt shingles and an internally-mounted masonry chimney. The building also features vertical siding, aluminum sliding windows, and a narrow inset porch with concrete stoop. A paneled slightly projecting feature on a side facade possibly encloses a switchbox. The building sits upon a concrete foundation. The triplex sits on a .31-acre lot, and reflects a 3-unit plan. A gable-roofed shed with vertical siding is located on the west side of the building and a chainlink fence surrounds the back yard (north side of the building).
