About the Author

Lacey Loves to Read is a community literacy initiative designed to unite readers of all ages around the works of a notable author. Our 2024 author, Donna Barba Higuera, is the recipient of the Cybils Award and Newbery Medal winner (The Last Cuentista) as well as Booklist Editors Choice winner for books for youth. Her book, Lupe Wong Won’t Dance, received the Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association (PNBA) award, recognized for “excellence in writing”. Donna lives in Washington State with her family, three dogs and two frogs.
